Blücher Monument (Upper Lusatia)
The Blücher monument on the Kreckwitzer heights near Bautzen commemorates the Prussian Field Marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher (1742–1819) and the Battle of Bautzen (1813). It is located at 184 m above sea level. NN high Blücherhügel and consists of a two-part, altogether approximately 2.40 m high granite rock, whereby the lower, larger rock is provided with a representation of an iron cross on the front and back . The upper, attached rock contains the inscription “21. May 1813–1913 ”, the date of the main fighting in the Battle of Bautzen.

The memorial was built on May 21, 1913 on the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Bautzen by the Kreckwitz lord Friedrich Ottomar Mittag in honor of the commander of the Napoleonic Wars of Liberation von Blücher on the hill popularly known as the "Schmidtscher Berg". Blücher was at this point and offered bitter resistance to the attacking French army. The battle, with its climax on May 21, ended with a victory for the Napoleonic troops, in which the French suffered considerable losses and were thereby significantly weakened.

On July 7, 2013, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary, the Kreckwitzer Sportverein staged a memorial service and inaugurated another memorial stone. The area around the memorial was cleared of undergrowth and undergrowth in advance and an oak was planted as a souvenir of this memorial ceremony. A history board , donated by the Wurschen association “Napoleonstrasse 1813”, describes the events of that time.
