As Blucher Oak 1998 dead - - one is English oak in / near Ratekau (at the national road 309) in Schleswig-Holstein designated as Natural Monument is protected.

Under the oak, the Prussian General Field Marshal Blücher and the French Marshal Bernadotte (later King of Sweden) met after the signing of the surrender document (see Battle of Lübeck ) in the Ratekau pastorate on November 7, 1806. There the Prussian soldiers marched past the French troops, laid down their weapons and went into captivity.

Remember the event

  • a memorial stone placed on the oak tree by a Schwartau citizen in 1856 with the inscription “Blücher 6./7. November 1806 ".
  • a memorial stone erected in the 1970s showing the dates of life (1742–1819) and a relief of Field Marshal Blücher .

A new oak has been planted next to the dead oak. The blue oak can be found in the coat of arms of the community of Ratekau .
