Black Blood Brothers ( Japanese ブ ラ ッ ク ・ ブ ラ ッ ド ・ ブ ラ ザ ー ズ , burakku buraddo burazāzu ) is a twelve-part light novel series by Kōhei Azano with illustrations by Yūya Kusaka. It was adapted in 2006 as an anime television series with twelve episodes.

action

In 1997 a vampire, later known as the Kowloon King , appears in Hong Kong and begins to infect others, thus turning them into vampires as well. In order to become a vampire themselves, a human normally has to drink a vampire's blood; however, people bitten by Kowloong King immediately become vampires. If these people who have mutated into vampires bite, they also become vampires directly. This creates its own class of society or a "vampire race" known as the Kowloon Children . The Kowloon Children are becoming more numerous and a threat to humanity.

Mankind starts a war in Hong Kong (called Holy War of Hong Kong) with the Kowloon Children and wins it. One of the war heroes was Jirō Mochizuki alias Gintō (translated: silver blade ). Ten years later he goes to Japan with his little brother Kotarō to visit a small underground town where surviving Kowloon Children are said to be hiding. During the trip to this city, Jirō meets opponents from his past.
