Tokyo MX is the television broadcaster of the Tokyo Metropolitan Television KK ( Japanese 東京 メ ト ロ ポ リ タ ン テ レ ビ ジ ョ ン 株式会社 , Tōkyō Metoroporitan Terebijon Kabushiki kaisha , English Tokyo Metropolitan Television Broadcasting Corp. ). It is the only private one that exclusively covers Tokyo Prefecture . There it competes as an independent broadcaster with Nippon Television , TV Asahi , TBS , TV Tokyo and Fuji TV , each of which is the leading broadcaster on its national network .
It was established on April 30, 1993 and began broadcasting its program on November 1 of the same year. The analog antenna broadcast was discontinued on July 24, 2011.
