Fuji Television
Fuji Television ( Japanese フ ジ テ レ ビ ジ ョ ン , Fuji Terebijon ), also フ ジ テ レ ビ ( Fuji Terebi ) for short , is a Japanese television station in Tokyo and the market leader (2005) in the ratings among the seven national full programs in Japan.
In the Kanto region, Fuji TV can be received on channel 8. With the program Trivia no Izumi and other variety shows, Fuji TV conquered the market leadership from long-time leader Nihon TV in 2004 .
Fuji TV started broadcasting in 1959. In 1997, the station moved from its old headquarters in Shinjuku to a new main building in the then freshly built beach district of Odaiba . The building, designed by Kenzō Tange in 1994 , is one of the new architectural sights of Tokyo and an eye-catcher for many Odaiba visitors. The conspicuous sphere, which looks like a UFO that has fallen into the building, is accessible to visitors; exhibitions take place here.
Fuji TV is also a sponsor of the Formula 1 race, which takes place once a year in Japan, the Japanese Grand Prix .
