Plaid (ribbon)
Plaid is a British musical duo.
history
The members are Andy Turner and Ed Handley, who realized the music project Black Dog Productions together with Ken Downie since 1989 . Her first LP Bytes , released under the alias Black Dog Productions , was released in 1993 on the Warp Records label. Andy Turner and Ed Handley were deeply influenced by early hip-hop music, which they combined with dance music. The two musicians separated from Downie in 1995. They then recorded an EP on the Clear label , before finally being signed to Warp Records. In addition, they recorded two songs with Mark Broom under the pseudonym Repeat , which can be heard on his EP south of market . Her first two LPs Not For Threes and Rest Proof Clockwork were released in America on the Nothing Records label. The real breakthrough began with the compilation Trainer , which includes a review of their musical works from before Black Dog Productions. At that time (2000), Warp Records was slowly gaining a foothold in the US, much to Plaid's advantage.
Plaid worked with video artist Bob Jaroc on their Greedy Baby project , which premiered in London's South Bank Center and is now being performed in London's IMAX cinema in Waterloo.
