Black Jazz Records was an independent American record label that existed in the 1970s .

Black Jazz Records was founded in 1971 by pianist Gene Russell (1932–1981) and Dick Schoryl. In Blackjazz published photographs from the fields of radio , free jazz and soul jazz , u. a. by The Awakening , Calvin Keys , Walter Bishop Jr. , Henry Franklin , Doug Carn, Jean Carn, Cleveland Eaton , Kellee Paterson, Chester Thompson, and Rudolph Johnson. After Russell's death, the activities of the label ended, whose catalog was acquired by James Hardge in the early 1990s. He founded the Red Beans and Rice Records label in Atlanta in 1993 and released the Black Jazz recordings again on vinyl and as compact disc .
