Black War
The Black War was a violent conflict in Tasmania between colonizers under the English crown and Tasmanian Aborigines in the 19th century. This conflict resulted in the genocide of the Tasmanians .
It was a dispute that had never officially been declared a "war". As a result, the Black War is dated differently. Some see its beginning as early as 1803 when the first European settlements were established on Tasmania. The conflict reached its climax around 1820; therefore this date is most often assigned to the Black War . The clashes ended around 1830 after the Black Line attempt failed and the British occupiers deported the Aborigines to the reservation zone on Flinders Island .
