Blackburne Gambit
The Blackburne Gambit is an opening of the chess game named after Joseph Henry Blackburne , or rather an opening trap of the Italian opening . It is therefore also called the Blackburne trap , which is characterized by the following features:

The basic position of the Blackburne Gambit after 3.… Nc6 – d4
- 1. e2 – e4 e7 – e5
- 2. Ng1-f3 Nb8-c6

3. Bf1 – c4 Nc6 – d4 ?!
- The trap; White should now play 4. c3 or 4. Nxd4. 4. 0–0 could also be considered.
- 4. Nf3xe5? Qd8 – g5!

5. Ne5xf7?
- 5. Bxf7 + Ke7 6. 0–0 is better, after which White loses a piece to two pawns, but still retains counter chances because of Black's poor position in the king. B. 6.… Qxe5 7. Bxg8 Rxg8 8. c3 Nc6 9. d4
- 5.… Qg5xg2
- 6. Rh1-f1 Qg2xe4 +

7. Bc4-e2
- 7. De2 is followed by 7.… Nxe2 8. Bxe2 Kxf7 and Black easily wins with a queen. The move, however, allows the classic stifled mate :
- 7.… Nd4 – f3 #
