Blackdown Rings

The Blackdown Rings are (also called Loddiswell) an earthwork from the Iron Age at Hazelwood east of Plymouth in Devon , England .

It is oval and covers about 2.4 hectares, enclosed by a wall with an external moat. The rampart to which a 6.0 m long ramp leads, is about 1.7 meters high. There are 2 passages approximately 8 m wide to the east and west. It consists of a Norman moth from the 12th century, which is built into the prehistoric ramparts and is located at a height of about 185 m above sea level and offers a view over the River Avon .
