The Blackphone is a smartphone developed by SGP Technologies , which promises encryption of calls , emails , SMS and encrypted access to websites .

SGP Technologies is a joint project of the manufacturers of the GeekPhones and Silent Circle and offers Internet access via VPN with the Blackphone . A modified Android operating system (version 4.4.2) with the name PrivatOS runs on the device , which is preinstalled with some security-relevant tools. Pre-orders for the Blackphone have been accepted since June 30, 2014.

The smartphone contains technologies such as Silent Circle Mobile , Friends and Family , Disconnect Mobile and SpiderOak .
