Blair Adam

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Blair Adam is a villa near the Scottish town of Kelty in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists, initially in category B. The upgrade to the highest monument category A took place in 1998.

history

The history of the villa is linked to the Adam family of architects. It was William Adam who acquired the Blair Crambeth estate from the Colvilles of Cleish in 1731 . Blair Adam was originally built in 1733 as the estate manager's residence. However, both William Adam and later John Adam and William Adam of Blair Adam used the villa regularly. The latter gave the property its current name. The Adams acted as Laird of Blair Adam. Over the centuries the building has been revised and expanded.
