Coordinates: 33 ° 56 ′ S , 147 ° 15 ′ E The Bland Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 8,557.7 km² and has about 5,950 inhabitants.
Bland is located in the south of the Central West region, about 460 km west of the metropolis of Sydney and 280 km northwest of the Australian capital Canberra . The area comprises 68 hamlets and villages, including Barmedman, Bland, Boddigower, Clear Ridge, Gubbata, Gunn, Hannan, Naradhan, Tallimba, Ungarie, Weethalle, Wyalong, West Wyalnong, Yalgogrin and parts of Barellan, Mirrool, Quandialla and Weja. The headquarters of the Shire Council is located in West Wyalong in the eastern half of the LGA, where about 2,750 people live.

The Bland Shire Council has nine members who are elected by LGA residents. Bland is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
