Blasius Georg Trogmann

Blasius Georg Trogmann (born January 28, 1781 Untermais , † March 28, 1866 Dorf Tirol ) was a freedom fighter during the Tyrolean popular uprising and rifle captain of Mais.

Life

Trogmann was the youngest son of the Oberweindlbauer Johann Trogmann and his wife Klara Zipperle. He was born on January 28, 1781 and baptized in the name of Blasius Georg Trogmann. Blasius Trogmann was the commander of the Maiser Company in the second Bergisel Battle . Trogmann later became one of Andreas Hofer's closest confidants . After the Peace of Schönbrunn became known , Trogmann tried to prevent further military actions.

Trogmanns Finkhof was devastated during the occupation of Merano by French troops. The damage caused was estimated at 232 guilders , in 1823 it was compensated with 500 guilders. In 1838 Trogmann was awarded the medium gold medal. On June 6, 1842, he was appointed porter at Tyrol Castle with an annual salary of 200 guilders, which he wore in traditional Burggräfler costume until his death. Blasius Trogmann was buried in the Tirolo cemetery.

Aftermath

In memory of Blasius Trogmann, the Blasius Trogmann monument was erected and inaugurated in Untermais on April 18, 1909. The portrait designed by Blasius Mayrhofer was forcibly torn from its pedestal and removed by fascists in 1925 . In June 1975 the Untermaiser Schützenkompanie had the monument re-cast and erected. The two bronze plaques stolen in 1925 were also re-cast on behalf of the rifle company and re-attached and ceremoniously inaugurated on Andreas Hofer Sunday 2010. In Untermais, Blasius-Trogmann-Strasse was named after the freedom fighter.
