Leaf axilla
Leaf axilla is a term used in botany .
The term referred to in seed plants the angle or the range at which suction surface (or petiole top; engl. Stem ) and shoot axis (engl. Branch ) merge into one another. From the buds ( called axillary buds ) that arise here , vegetative side shoots (axillary shoots) or flowers or inflorescences (" axillary shoots ") can emerge. A leaf with a side shoot in the axilla is also known as a bract ; in the case of flowers, it is instead called a bract or bract .
