The Blue Lamb is the only Gdansk warehouse with intact preserved structural elements. It is located on Speicherinsel , Hopfengasse (ulica Chmielna) 53. It houses a branch of the Archaeological Museum in Gdańsk and in this capacity is also known as the “Blue Lion”.

The construction of the seven-storey storage facility began in the 16th century and lasted until the 18th century; some wooden elements date from 1360.

After the Second World War it was initially used as a warehouse, and in 1995 it became the seat of the Archaeological Museum.

From 1995 to 2008 the building was renovated, among other things the foundations were fixed and the wooden structure was renewed. The facades were cleaned. On April 7, 2011, the museum was awarded the European Union PrizeEuropa Nostra ” in the monument preservation category.

The atmosphere of medieval Gdańsk was presented in the museum. Among other things, 14 medieval workshops can be seen, such as shoemakers, amber masters, tailors, barbers, armourers and a public bathing establishment. The 18 figures of the former Gdańsk residents wear hand-sewn clothes made from hand-woven fabrics.
