Architecture and history

The large three- to four-storey semi-detached house was built in 1900 by master carpenter Carl Fuchs based on plans by master mason Julius Kohtz. The facades of the plastered building are structured by brick elements. The floor plan of the building is designed in the form of a U, with the northwest corner being emphasized by a round tower. Originally the tower was crowned by a tall pointed helmet, which has not been preserved. Overall, the building structure, including its arcades, is in the neo-Romanesque style.

The north facade facing Bleckenburgstrasse is characterized by a broad medium- sized plan with loggias. The outer axes of the risalit are designed in the form of towers. Here, too, there were originally crowns with helmets and tail gables, which have also not been preserved. The former south corner of the house is also no longer in its original form.

The windows are designed as lattice windows. Noteworthy is a quadrant-shaped balcony on the north facade on the second floor, which rests on a vaulted console.

Two inscriptions on the left and right of the facade of the central risalit are remarkable.

On the left is:

O • SAINT
FLORIAN
SCHÜTZ • THIS • HOUSE
IGNITION • OTHER • ON

On the right:

WHO • DA • BAET • ON
THE • STRASEN
MUS • THE • PEOPLE
TALK • LASEN

In the local register of monuments , the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 16750 .

The residential building is considered to be significant in terms of urban planning and an important example of a representative residential building of its construction time.
