Blessington ( Irish : Baile Coimín; German: "City of Coimín") is a town in County Wicklow in the east of the Republic of Ireland .
Blessington is the largest city in West Wicklow. It is located about 35 km southwest of Dublin on the N81 from Dublin on Tallaght to Tullow on Poulaphouca reservoir , one as Blessington Lake (s) known National Park in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains , which arose when in 1944 the waterfall at Poulaphouca during the Liffey was jammed. Two smaller villages were first relocated and then flooded. The water from the Blessington Lakes is fed into the drinking water supply of the Dublin region.
Dublin Bus connects Blessington with downtown Dublin.
The population of Blessington was determined in the 2016 Census to be 5520, which means that the population has almost tripled since 1996. New residential complexes have been built mainly in the west of the city in the vicinity of the road to Naas .
In Blessington is one of Adrian Fisher's hedge mazes . Russborough House is south of Blessington .
