Bloglines was a free, web-based feed reader - service . The site allowed users to group web feeds in RSS and Atom formats by keywords and topics. The service was supposed to be discontinued in autumn 2010, but on November 4, 2010 it was announced that the service would be continued and that it would be taken over by MercantCircle from December 2010. Bloglines ceased operations at the beginning of 2015.

Bloglines collected "Syndicated Feeds" or "News Feeds", which are distributed via RSS and Atom , and passed them on to the users in an orderly manner. It was a server-based aggregation system.

According to its own information, Bloglines had more than 280 million content elements and blog articles in its search database. Bloglines was available in English, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Bloglines Web Services was founded in 2003. In 2005 the company was taken over by Ask Jeeves . It has since been owned by IAC Search & Media, a wholly owned subsidiary of IAC / InterActiveCorp headquartered in San Francisco.

Earnings rose in the first quarter of 2005 from $ 13.4 million or 23 US cents a year ago to 18.1 million or 26 US cents per share.
