Blomer & Students

Blomer & Schüler was a German company that produced tin toys from 1919 to 1974 .

history

The company was founded in Nuremberg in 1919 by Richard Blomer and Leonhard Schüler (* July 20, 1887). Both founders previously worked in commercial administration and sales at Bayerische Metallwarenfabrik GmbH, Nuremberg. Initially pivot pins, later only drives for other toy manufacturers were produced. The first company location was at Singerplatz. In 1924 the company building at Kirchenweg 71 was built and the company headquarters were relocated to the new location.

From 1930 the production of colorfully lithographed tin toys such as carousels and mechanical animals began. The running elephant "Jumbo", which later became a trademark, was presented as the first tin toy product in 1930 at the toy fair in Leipzig . One of the most famous parts was the "turkey" that could run and hit a wheel with its tin tail. After the Second World War , Leonhard Schüler's two sons, Herbert and Adolf, joined the company and continued to run the company. From around 1950 on, cars and especially helicopters in different sizes and designs were produced. In 1974 production was stopped and the company was dissolved in the commercial register . The company building was sold.

Some of the company's models are still made today by the Emskirchen- based sheet metal manufacturer Josef Wagner. The "turkey" and other products also belong to the collection of the Nuremberg Toy Museum .
