The Blossoms are an English rock band from Stockport .
Band history
The Blossoms began in 2013 as a school band in Stockport, Greater Manchester . The childhood friends Tom Ogden, singer and guitarist, and Joe Donovan on drums launched the band, plus bassist Charlie Salt, with whom they had previously been in another band. Guitarist Josh Dewhurst and keyboardist Myles Kellock completed the line-up. They named the band after a pub in the neighborhood. They were influenced by Oasis and the Arctic Monkeys as well as the pop music of the 1980s, although the members are between 1991 and 1997. Just a year later they made their first releases with the single You Pulled a Gun on Me and the EP Bloom . They signed with the Virgin EMI label and had other EP and single releases that made them better known. In the BBC 's Sound of 2016 forecast , who will make the breakthrough in the following year, they came in fourth.
In February 2016 the EP At Most a Kiss followed , which provided a more offensive musical style with a synthesizer for the debut album. Half a year later the LP Blossoms was released and entered the British charts at number 1 . In the same year an extended version of the album followed with ten new songs, which brought the album back into the charts. At the MTV Europe Music Awards 2016 they received a nomination for Best Push Act and at the BRIT Awards in early 2017 they were nominated as a British Breakthrough Act .
