history

The name of the city is derived from the name of the county. In 1830 a post office was established. Even at that time, the city was a popular place for wealthy citizens of surrounding cities to build summer residences. Celebrities and politicians resided in the city's hotels and resorts when they were here or in the surrounding area.

Only when a fire in one of the large hotels destroyed parts of the city in 1915 did the development of the place stop for a few decades. The decline of the place continued when the railway line was no longer served, but led around the place. It was not until a gated community was established in the 1980s that more and more wealthy citizens of surrounding cities moved here again.
