The Blue Beanie Day is a day of action to the importance of web standards to draw attention. It has been celebrated annually on November 30th since 2007 and was initiated by Douglas Vos . He was inspired by the author Jeffrey Zeldman , who is shown wearing a blue cap on the cover of his standard work Designing with Web Standards , published in 2003 . On social media channels in particular, the day of action is accompanied by web developers and supporters, who call themselves “standardistas” , with the hashtag #BlueBeanieDay and with photos of themselves in blue hats as a common standard. There are best practices pushed for standardized, accessible and universal Web design and development to the fore, as well as attention for an Internet that anyone excludes are generated. In the course of time, Blue Beanie Day has increasingly become a day of action for a barrier-free Internet , the basic requirement of which is the correct use of web standards.
