The Blue Rock Lake is a reservoir in the course of the Tanjil River , which was built as an additional cooling water reservoir for the lignite power stations of the Latrobe Valley .
location
Blue Rock Lake is located on the Tanjil River about 20 km north of the Latrobe Valley . Near the west bank is the small town of Willow Grove . East of the reservoir is the nature reserve of Moondarra State Park with Mount Tanjil .
history
The reservoir was built in the 1950s by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria .
purpose
Together with Lake Narracan 15 km downstream, it provides cooling water for the power stations in the Latrobe Valley.
