Port Pleasant is a bay in the Falkland Islands . It is about eight miles south of Stanley . The settlement of Bluff Cove ( Spanish : Bahia Agradable or Hoya Fitzroy ) is located on the bay . Port Pleasant was important in the naval battle off the Falkland Islands on December 8, 1914, as the German warships of the East Asia Squadron operated out of it in the direction of Stanley.

In this bay, during the Falklands War on June 8, 1982, the British landing ships RFA Sir Galahad and RFA Sir Tristram were attacked and badly damaged by Argentine aircraft, the Sir Galahad burned out. The Welsh Guard embarked on the ships suffered heavy losses: a total of 49 men were killed and over 115 were burned . It was the heaviest British casualty in any single incident in the entire Falklands War.
