The Blythe Bay is a natural harbor on the southeast coast of the island Desolation Iceland north of Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands .
American and British seal hunters had known the bay by their name since at least 1821. In the 1930s, the name was mistakenly transferred to what is now known as Hero Bay . Probable namesake is the northern English town of Blyth (formerly Blythe), home of the British navigator William Smith , who is considered the discoverer of the South Shetland Islands.
