Christian Adolf von Roebel (born May 11, 1772 in Osteroda ; † August 3, 1848 in Dumzin ) was a Prussian major general and heir to Dumzin, Karvin and Klein-Jestin .

His parents were Christian Friedrich von Roebel (* March 29, 1733 - December 21, 1771) and his wife Christiane Charlotte Erdmuthe, born von der Schulenburg (* January 17, 1746 - June 16, 1781), a daughter of Johann Adolf von der Schulenburg (1699–1770). His father was also the heir to Kruge and Osteroda with the Redlin suburb .

Military career

Roebel came in 1788 as a corporal in the infantry regiment "Alt-Woldeck" of the Prussian army . There he became ensign on May 21, 1791 and second lieutenant on December 1, 1793 . As such, he took part in the campaign in Poland in 1794/95 and fought near Blonie , Cracow and the siege of Warsaw . In 1798 Roebel became a battalion adjutant and in 1801 came as an adjutant to General von Larisch . On November 12, 1804, he was promoted to prime lieutenant . During the Fourth Coalition War , Roebel was seriously wounded in the foot in the Battle of Auerstedt .

He was able to recover and on August 9, 1807 was transferred to the " Blücher " corps as a staff captain with a patent from October 11, 1807 . On February 20, 1808 he came to the 1st Pomeranian Infantry Regiment (No. 2) and rose there on August 11, 1809 to captain and company commander . In the run-up to the Wars of Liberation , Roebel was promoted to major on March 26, 1813 and came as the commander of the III. Reserve battalions to Infantry Regiment No. 9 "Kollberg" and with this battalion again to the 8th Reserve Regiment. After the collapse of the Kingdom of Westphalia and the occupation of the country by the Allies, he was appointed commander of the 5th Westphalian Infantry Regiment on December 27, 1813 . Roebel fought in the sieges of Stettin , Maubeuge , Philippeville and Reccroy as well as in the battle near Luckau . For Wittenberg he received the Iron Cross II. Class and he was wounded in the Battle of Ligny .

After the war, Roebel became lieutenant colonel on October 3, 1815 , and on February 9, 1816, commander of the 4th Kürmärk Landwehr Regiment (from 1817 the Berlin Landwehr Regiment). appointed. This was a special task because the regiment was not very popular with the Berliners. The regiment was disbanded in 1819 and on July 8, 1819 Roebel came as a commander in the 6th Infantry Regiment . There he became a colonel on March 30, 1821 and retired on May 9, 1823 with a pension of 800 thalers. On June 26, 1826 King Friedrich Wilhelm III awarded him . the character as major general and on April 23, 1827 he received 200 thalers as a gift.

He died on August 3, 1848 on his estate Dumzin in the Fürstenthum district .

In his assessment from the year 1811 it says: "An excellent moral and service-minded officer who combines other scientific knowledge with military knowledge."

Roebel married on June 26, 1812 in Dumzin Wilhelmine Christiane Johanna von Borcke (* December 6, 1788, † May 20, 1853). The marriage resulted in the son Adolf Adalbert Wilhelm Hermann (born November 28, 1821), who, like his father, embarked on a career in the Prussian Army.
