Therein the building of a church was mentioned. On May 2, 1338, Błonie then received city rights under Magdeburg law . In 1380 the town charter was granted again, this time according to Kulm law . At the end of the 14th century the place became a district town. Towards the end of the following century, Błonie became the seat of a starost and developed into an important trading center. During the Great Northern War , the city was ravaged by soldiers. In 1727 the wooden town hall burned down. In 1776 a new brick town hall was built. During the fighting at the end of the 18th century, the place was destroyed again. During the Third Partition of Poland , the city fell to Prussia . With the formation of the Duchy of Warsaw in 1807, the city became part of it. In 1815, Błonie became part of Congress Poland .
In 1842 a new town hall was built based on a design by the architect Henryk Marconi . According to a report from 1912, there were 175 houses and cobbled streets that were lit by oil lamps. There were also four schools and three doctors practiced here. In 1914 the town hall burned down. After the end of the First World War , the city became part of the re-established Poland.
In September 1939 the city was captured by the Wehrmacht as part of the attack on Poland . On the night of 18./19. September 1939 50 civilians were murdered by members of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler . During the occupation a prisoner of war camp was set up here, which was later converted into a labor camp. A ghetto was set up in November 1940 for around 2,100 Jews. In February 1941 the ghetto was dissolved and the Jewish prisoners deported to the Warsaw ghetto .
