In theological parlance, the Jerusalem Bible is the German version of the Bible published in 1968 , which, in addition to the translation of the Bible text based on the Herder Bible, also contained the comments from the French Bible de Jérusalem from 1955 - approved by the Vatican in October 1955. That French translation of the Bible , overseen by the Dominicans of the École Biblique in Jerusalem , attracted attention due to its special literary quality and text-critical rigor and is still internationally recognized today. The 3rd edition of the French edition was published in 1998 with a revised translation text.

New Jerusalem Bible

Since 1985 the German edition of the Jerusalem Bible has appeared exclusively with the text of the standard translation as the New Jerusalem Bible . Currently (as of 2018) the Bible edition is not available from the publisher. The last edition of 2007 still contains the first version of the standard translation. An edition with the revised text from 2016 has not yet appeared.
