Alexander von Borck

Alexander Xaver Casimir von Borck (born February 27, 1802 in Błonie , † February 12, 1880 in Berlin-Charlottenburg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Origin and family

Alexander was a member of the Pomeranian noble family Borcke . His parents were the district administrator Heinrich von Borck (1767-1827) and Ursula von Bolechowska († 1848). General Apollinaris Jakob von Slugocki (1782-1860) was his brother-in-law.

From his 1833 marriage to Adolphine Gräfin zu Dohna (1810–1876), daughter of the Lieutenant Colonel and Commandant of Schweidnitz Albrecht Leopold Wilhelm Graf zu Dohna (1764–1813) and his second wife Elise von Benckendorff (1780–1852), there are six Children emerged:

Career

Borck pursued a career as an officer in the Prussian Army and was a cadet in Berlin in 1819 . In 1821 he was a non-commissioned officer in the 6th Infantry Regiment , then a portepee ensign, and in 1822 was promoted to second lieutenant . From 1826 to 1829 he was assigned to the General War School and in 1830 to the Infantry Training Regiment in Potsdam . In 1831 he was accountant and in 1834 adjutant at the 2nd Battalion in Posen . In 1836 he switched to the Fusilier Battalion in Krotoschin as an adjutant . He was promoted to prime lieutenant while serving as adjutant in the 7th Landwehr Brigade in Magdeburg in 1837. After that, in 1838 he became a company commander in the 7th Landwehr Regiment. In 1842 he was adjutant of the 9th Division in Glogau and was promoted to captain in 1843 while at the same time being transferred to the adjutant's position at the General Command of the 5th Army Corps in Posen. Borck became company commander in the 19th Infantry Regiment in 1845 , advanced to major at the beginning of 1849 and served on the regiment's staff , then became battalion commander in the fall of that year . In 1850 he took part in the invasion of Hesse and the battle near Bronnzell .

After his transfer as commander of the fusilier battalion of the 10th Infantry Regiment in Breslau in 1852, he was successively commander of the Landwehr battalions in Schrimm and Jauer in 1856 . In 1857 he became the commander of the 40th Infantry Regiment in Saarlouis . In 1860 Borck was initially charged with the command of the 23rd Combined Infantry Regiment and was then commander of the 63rd Infantry Regiment in Neisse that same year . In 1861 he became the commander of the 10th Infantry Brigade in Frankfurt (Oder) , leaving his position à la suite with the 63rd Infantry Regiment. After his eventual promotion to major general in 1861, he was at his own request with 1863 board for disposition made.

Awards

Borck received the Red Eagle Order IV. Class in 1859 and the Red Eagle Order III in 1862. Class with the loop.
