The bmp greengas GmbH is marketer for biomethane and expert on green gases, based in Munich . According to its own information, the company was the leader in the German biomethane market in 2015 with an estimated trading turnover of over 1.4 terawatt hours. The company certificate of origin (Greenbook) provided the basis for the German Energy Agency's biogas register . The register developed in 2009 serves to document all biomethane quantities in the individual stages of the value chain. history
The company was founded in 2003 with the idea of processing biogas and feeding it into the natural gas network. After various feasibility studies in 2004 and 2005, one of the first systems was developed in Pliening in 2006 . In 2007 the further project business was outsourced to RES Projects GmbH.
Company founder Dr. Andreas Seebach was replaced by his brother as managing director in 2013. Volker Seebach initiated the development of a trend-setting trading system and set the course for further growth. Both brothers ran the company together until 2014.
Under Volker Seebach, sole managing director from 2014 to March 2017, the company was able to consolidate its position as an industry leader. In March 2017, Erdgas Südwest GmbH, based in Ettlingen, acquired bmp greengas GmbH. Erwin Holl and Matthias Kerner take over the management of bmp greengas GmbH as dual leaders. The previous shareholders, Dr. Andreas and Volker Seebach are at the company's side as consultants. In July 2019, Erwin Holl retired, and Matthias Kerner has been the sole managing director since then.
Innovation award
In 2009, the company received the innovation award from dena biogas partners, which was awarded for the first time. The award was based on the principle of taking quantities directly from the biomethane feed-in systems and distributing them to customers across Germany as required. In this way the trading base for the product biomethane was created. Since the sustainable gas is transported together with conventional natural gas in the German natural gas network, the trading company developed a certified system of proof of origin.
