Bob Gardiner (athlete)

Bob Gardiner (actually Robert Charles Gardiner; born March 22, 1936 in Melbourne ) is a former Australian walker .

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he gave up walking 20 km and finished fifth in 50 km . In 1968 he came in 19th place at the Olympic Games in Mexico City over 50 km.

At the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1970 , he won silver over 20 miles in 2:35:55 ​​h. In 1972 he was nominated for the Olympic Games in Munich , but could not take part due to an injury.

He was Australian champion over two miles three times (1961, 1965, 1967), once over 20 km (1965) and four times over 50 km (1964, 1966, 1968, 1971).
