Bob Jones (sound engineer)

Robert "Bob" Jones (born before 1952) is a sound engineer and sound engineer .

Life

Jones began his career on the film staff in 1952 in post-production of the drama Derby Day by director Herbert Wilcox . For several years he worked in the credits without naming his name, it was not until 1954 that he received his first credit . He has worked on a number of major feature film productions, including Laurence Olivier's Shakespeare adaptation Richard III. and Stanley Donen's thriller Charade . In 1969 he was nominated for the first BAFTA Film Award nomination in the Best Sound category for the film musical Oliver . A second nomination for this award came in 1974 for When the Gondolas Bear Mourning .

In 1972 Jones was nominated for an Oscar for Best Sound for Charles Jarrott's historical drama Mary, Queen of Scots along with John Aldred , but that year the award went to Norman Jewison's musical Anatevka .
