Bob Scheifler
Robert William Scheifler (born June 24, 1954 ) is an American computer scientist .
Together with Jim Gettys, who were primarily responsible for the development of the X Window System , he led the development from the beginning of 1984 until the closure of the MIT X consortium in 1996. He later became one of the architects of Jini at Sun Microsystems , which is now transferred to the Apache Foundation as River .
Scheifler received his BS in Mathematics and MS in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology .
