The Drasdoer post mill is a listed historical post mill from 1718. It is located in the Drasdo district of the small town of Uebigau-Wahrenbrück in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg .

history

The Drasdo post mill was probably built in 1718. Its original location was the village of Beyern near Falkenberg / Elster .

In 1723 it was moved from there to Drasdo with the approval of the Office Annaburg , which at that time belonged to the Office Liebenwerda . Here it was initially part of the local bar by Christoph Heyde. After changing hands several times, it finally came into the possession of the Schöllner family in 1888. The mill was gradually expanded into a motor mill with three grinding stages. Around 1900 the mill received a larger wing cross, which increased its output to around 60 hp. To do this, the mill was raised by about a meter. In 1933 it got a diesel engine and in 1959 an electrical connection.

From 1957, only fodder was crushed in the Drasdoer Mühle, although it was still powered by wind until 1961. In 1969, when the bearing beam for the large mill shaft broke, the grinding operation in the mill was finally completely stopped or only sporadically ground by means of an electric drive. There are no longer any wings. These were removed after a storm damage in 1961.

The Schöllner family now owns the Drasdoer post mill, which has been extensively renovated in recent years, in the fifth generation. Among other things, the outer skin, the roof and some beams were renewed. The feet were also repaired. The owner family of the mill, which is keen to maintain the mill, which is to get new wings again by 2018, is offering guided tours through the permanent exhibition "Milling Technology from 3 Centuries" for the annual German Mill Day , the Open Monument Day and on request.
