Post mill Lindhorst

The Lindhorst post mill is a restored, functional post mill near Lindhorst in Saxony-Anhalt .

history

The mill was built in 1861 on the road from Lindhorst to Colbitz by order of Alexander Theodor Lüders . However, some parts of the mill, especially the Hausbaum , Hammerbalken and Bock, are much older. Parts of the windmill were renewed under the later mill owner Hermann Röhle . This affected the vertical shaft in 1893 and the corrugated head in 1901 . The bag lift dates from 1923. The last miller on the mill was Müller Lindemann , who operated the system until the 1960s. The mill was then unused and fell into disrepair. Lindemann died in 1981. In the following years when the property was vacant, the decline increased rapidly. A later buyer did nothing to maintain the mill either.

In 1990 there are said to have been plans to dismantle the mill and sell it to Schleswig-Holstein . This was prohibited under the protection of historical monuments . Due to this process, the Association for the Preservation of the Post Mill Lindhorst eV was founded on October 30, 1990. The association campaigned for the preservation and restoration of the mill.

First the roof was sealed. In 1991 the wings were dismantled. On May 30, 1992, in front of 2,000 spectators, the mill was moved with the help of a crane from its previous location to a property of the community 57 meters away. The interior of the mill was renovated. In 1994 the wings were reattached and the boards of the outer cladding were renewed. The roof was re-covered with wooden shingles.

The mill is functional again today and is put into operation on special occasions.
