Soil mapping instructions

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Soil Science Mapping Guide is the essential basis for describing soils in Germany. In addition to the instructions for carrying out soil mapping, it contains the definition of all essential characteristics for soil description and classification ( soil type , soil type , groundwater , waterlogging , initial rock of soil formation , humus form, etc.) as well as extensive tables of characteristic values as a basis for evaluating the water and air balance of the soil and for Site assessment.

It is published by the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources in cooperation with the State Geological Services of the federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany . It has a binding character in the administrative process, especially in the area of soil protection (see also Federal Soil Protection Act ), but is not used in all federal states in the current edition or only in modified form for the soil science survey. The Soil Science Mapping Instructions first appeared in 1965 as The Soil Map 1: 25,000. Instructions and guidelines for their production . The 5th edition of the Soil Science Mapping Guide (KA5) has been available since 2005. The Soil Working Group of the State Geological Services of the Federal States of the Federal Republic of Germany is currently working on the completion of the 6th edition of the mapping instructions.
