Ground noise

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ground noise are on airport grounds generated sounds , no matter whether they come from aircraft or other vehicles or machinery originate. It is thus to be recorded and assessed as a form of aircraft noise in accordance with Section 6 (2) sentence 1 LuftVG, insofar as it extends beyond the airport premises. However, the term ground noise is not legally defined.

On closer inspection, the determination and assessment of ground noise presents various difficulties. It is problematic to distinguish it from the actual aircraft noise, i.e. the noise generated in the flight phases of an aircraft. Insofar as this noise is included in noise-physical reports, which are created according to the instructions for calculating noise protection areas, noise emissions on the runway are neglected, from the take-off point and during approaches to turning off the runway. The reverse thrust is also taken into account in a generalized manner in AzB reports , so it is not part of the ground noise. Overall, this term covers in particular: stationary and rolling noises before take-off and after turning , stationary phases of helicopters, engine test runs as well as noises from auxiliary units ( APU and GPU ), stationary sources and all vehicles moving on the premises (tractors, apron buses, Baggage cart etc.).
