Boeing Canada is a subsidiary of the US aircraft manufacturer Boeing , headquartered in Winnipeg , Manitoba , Canada . The factory is located at 99 Murray Park Road . The company was founded in 1971 and employs 1,900 people.

history

It was founded in 1971 with around 50 employees. At that time, the largest Canadian airline, Air Canada, bought Boeing Jumbo 747 aircraft and the Canadian government also ordered several Boeing 707 military aircraft. Shortly thereafter, Boeing decided to open a plant for aircraft parts in Winnipeg. There were many reasons for it. On the one hand, Winnipeg had well-trained employees, on the other hand, the central location of Winnipeg and the long tradition of aircraft maintenance and repair dating back to 1930. In 1971 Boeing Canada opened the first production line for Boeing 747 wing parts. The production area at that time was around 6500 m². In the course of time, the production area increased to around 69,677 m² at three locations in the city due to further productions. In March 2010, Boeing Canada completed the modernization of 80 CF-18 combat aircraft of the Canadian armed forces with modern avionics and other systems. On April 23, 2013 the expansion of the Boeing production plant was announced. According to this, the production area should go from 48,000 m 2 to over 62,000 m 2 . The production areas are to be completed in the second half of 2014. Production of the new aircraft components for the new Boeing 737-MAX is scheduled to begin in early 2015.
