Grilled boerewors , chops and rack of lamb
Boerewors ( Afrikaans for farmer's sausage ) is a grilled or bratwurst rolled up into a large snail . It traditionally consists of finely chopped beef , pork and game meat (for example antelope , zebra ) and is heavily seasoned with thyme , coriander and nutmeg , among other things . The composition of a Boerewors has been regulated by law in South Africa since 1990.
The boerewors are an important part of a typical South African or Namibian grill meal, the braais . A typical combination would be Boerewors, Mielie pap (corn porridge) and Chakalaka (spicy vegetable dish).
