Boyan Petkow Bylgaranow ( Bulgarian Боян Петков Българанов ; born October 20, 1896 in Shumen , † December 26, 1972 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian politician .

Life

Bylgaranov joined the Bulgarian Communist Party in 1920 . In 1922 he attended the General Staff Academy in Moscow . He was sentenced to death in Bulgaria in 1924 for revolutionary activities, but was given an amnesty in 1933 . He then emigrated to the Soviet Union and worked in the Comintern . Bylgaranow returned to Bulgaria and in 1937 became a member of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party. From 1941 to 1944 he played a leading role in the armed struggle.

In 1956 he became secretary of the Central Committee. He was a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee from 1957. From 1967 to 1972 he was chairman of the National Council of the Bulgarian Patriotic Front. In 1971 and 1972 he was a member of the Bulgarian State Council .

Bylgaranow was awarded as a hero of the People's Republic of Bulgaria , as a hero of socialist labor and the Dimitrov Prize.
