Bolongsari

Bolongsari is an Indonesian village in the Jawa Barat Province . In the 1940s the place was called Rawagede .

history

In the course of the Indonesian War of Independence , Dutch soldiers carried out the massacre in Rawagede on December 9, 1947 . While looking for an insurgent, they killed almost all of the male residents. According to Dutch data, 150 people died, according to Indonesian up to 431 deaths.

As a result of the massacre, the Dutch government supported the village with development aid . In September 2011, relatives of the victims were awarded around 20,000 euros in damages by a court in The Hague . It also committed the Dutch government to an official apology, which Ambassador Tjeerd de Zwaan made on December 9, 2011 in the village cemetery.
