Bonistock is a mountain with a height of 2168 meters in the municipality of Kerns in the canton of Obwalden in Switzerland . It belongs to the summer and winter sports resort of Melchsee-Frutt .
The Bonistock can be reached via several hiking trails, in summer with the aerial cable car from Melchsee, in winter also with the chairlift from Cheselenfirst via Bettenalp. On the Bonistock there is a mountain hotel of the same name with over 100 guest beds and a panorama restaurant with a large terrace. The house is managed in winter and summer.
The mountain offers a view of the mountains of the Bernese and Obwalden Alps. In winter, a blue ski slope lead from Bonistock to Melchsee, a black slope to Cheselenfirst and a winter hiking trail over Tannalp to Erzegg. In summer, the steep face under the Bonistock serves as a climbing garden . There are over 140 routes with levels of difficulty 3 to 8, and there has also been a small via ferrata since 2011 .
