The Bonneville-Ducati project was founded in 2010 to set a FIM country speed racing world record in the 1000 APS / BG class two-cylinder motorcycles on salt in 2012 . The Baden team from the Achern area uses a self-made motorcycle with a Ducati engine (basis: Ducati 916/955 Turbo).

history

The idea came in 2010 with the Bachelor of Günter Retsch in Santa Pod (England). They wanted to watch a race there on the trail of past dragster times. The English weather prevented this. The atmosphere and the memory of the film with Anthony Hopkins The World's Fastest Indian gave rise to the idea of converting Günter's old Ducati dragster and driving it on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah .

Back in Germany, friends from a wide variety of backgrounds were made, including mechanics, technicians, engineers, marketing specialists and women. In 2014, the 200 Miles Club is to have a third German member.

Project phases

Phase 1 - "NowSalt 2012"

After two years of preparatory work, in August 2012 the team set off for the BUB - Motorcycle Speed Trials in the salt desert . The team was able to achieve two records in its class: the national AMA record and the international FIM world record.

Phase 2 - "MoreSalt 2014"

In July 2013, a selection of the members were able to use Audi's wind tunnel to test and optimize the aerodynamics. Furthermore, as a result of previous experience, the technical team will revise the chassis. At the same time, the marketing team is taking care of the financing of this year's participation.

The SCTA-Speed Week 2014 (A Century of Speed-Bonneville Salt Flats) from August 9th to 15th, 2014 was canceled due to rain. Thereafter, no further activities for the Bonneville-Ducati project can be determined.
