Bonsai kitten
Bonsai Kitten (bonsaikitten.com) was a website created in 2000 that claimed to be selling bonsai cats. The operator of the site pretended to lock kittens in small glass containers for several months, causing the animals to take on the shape of the container.
The FBI was investigating the case on suspicion of cruelty to animals , but found no evidence that any animals were actually harmed. Rather, it is a joke by students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Although the site was exposed as a hoax shortly after it was launched , there are still many e-mails from animal rights activists protesting against the site.
