Bordj Bou Arreridj ( Arabic برج بوعريريج, DMG Burğ Bū ʿUrairīğ , tamazight ⴱⵓⵔⴵ ⴱⵓ ⵄⵔⵉⵔⵉⴵ Burǧ bu ɛririǧ ) is an Algerian city and capital of the province of the same name . The city has around 170,000 inhabitants (2005 estimate).
Bordj Bou Arreridj is located around 200 km east of Algiers on the northern slope of the Hodna Mountains at 916 meters above sea level.
The economy is mainly based on agriculture and forestry , industry is only available to a small extent. It is also the administrative center.
In terms of transport, the city is connected to Sétif (around 70 km to the east) and Algiers by road and rail .
