Boresch III. from Ossegg and Riesenburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Boresch III. von Ossegg and Riesenburg († before 1312) was a Bohemian nobleman of the von Riesenburg family .

The son of Bohuslav II became a member of the regional court in 1291. At the end of the 13th century ore mining flourished in the Riesenburg rulership. On March 22, 1302, he concluded a contract with the monastery head of Ossegg, according to which he shared the income with the Osek monastery .

After the death of King Wenceslaus II and the murder of his successor Wenceslaus III. a year later, there was a renewed wave of violence in Bohemia when the powerful nobles tried to expand their lands and fortunes during the non-governmental period. Church assets were usurped, and on the other hand, attempts were made to compensate for injustices of the past.

Boresch, too, could not resist a further expansion of power. In 1307 he is mentioned as the owner of Sayda , but this time not as a part of the Bohemian Empire, but as a fiefdom of the Margraviate of Meissen .

Until his death he is mentioned only once. His name no longer appears in contract documents from 1312.
