Boris Pergamenschikow Prize

The Boris Pergamenschikow Prize is a music prize named after the cellist Boris Pergamenschtschikow .

After a competition held every three years, the prize honors outstanding chamber music achievements. It was initiated by the Society of Friends and Patrons of the Hanns Eisler University of Music Berlin eV .

Chamber music ensembles - from trio to nonet - from all music universities in Germany, Switzerland and Austria with at least one cello are allowed to take part in the 2016 competition . In addition to the performance of one or more pieces from the period after 1950, the ensemble has to give a lecture on the piece that puts the work in its historical context and in its relationship to other genres.

The winning ensemble is awarded the prize, which is endowed with 10,000 euros. The award-winning ensemble also receives the special prize for a composition commission, endowed with 3,000 euros. There is also a sponsorship award for the best oral lecture, which is endowed with 2,000 euros. The two additional prizes are awarded with the support of the Hans and Stefan Bernbeck Foundation .

The jurors of the last prize awarded in 2013 included Jonathan Aner (professor for chamber music at the HfM Hanns Eisler Berlin), Claudio Bohórquez (professor for cello at the HfM Stuttgart ), Ulli Fußenegger (double bass player at the Klangforum Wien , lecturer at the HfM Lucerne ), Björn Gottstein (director of the Eclat Festival Stuttgart together with Christine Fischer), Cathie Milliken (composer and oboist), Marie-Luise Neunecker (professor for horn at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" Berlin), Oliver Wille (professor for chamber music in Hanover, Kuss Quartet) and Martina von Brüning without voting rights (for the Society of Friends and Patrons).
