Boris Kutin

Boris Kutin (* 1947 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian chess player and official. He became known for his leading role in the European Chess Union ECU .

Career as a player

Boris Kutin is now hardly active as a chess player. Occasionally he takes part in Blitz tournaments with a very limited cooling off period. Kutin could not achieve an official FIDE title in his career .

Career as a functionary

Boris Kutin was General Secretary of the European Chess Union from 1998 to 2010. As such, he took over the day-to-day business of the organization and was directly subordinate to the board. Together with Kurt Jungwirth he was the longest serving general secretary of the chess union founded in 1985.

In addition, Kutin was tournament director at the 2002 Chess Olympiad in the city of Bled in his native Slovenia.
