Borth (Wales)
Borth is a coastal village 7 miles north of Aberystwyth in the county of Ceredigion , Wales . The population was 1,523 in 2001.
Features and history
Borth has a beach and is a vacation spot. There is a youth hostel in town and numerous camping sites nearby. An ancient underwater forest is visible on the beach at low tide, where stumps of oak , pine , birch can be seen. This forest is also associated with the legend of Cantre'r Gwaelod .
Cors Fochno , the only UNESCO - Biosphere Reserve in Wales , is located near the village.
On April 4, 1876, the entire Uppingham School from Rutland , consisting of 300 boys, 30 teachers and their families, was brought to Borth for a period of 14 months to avoid a typhoid epidemic.
According to Morrissey , his hit single " Everyday Is Like Sunday " was inspired by Borth.
